Compare the2026 Fiat 500eVS 2025 Hyundai Nexo

2026 Fiat 500e
2025 Hyundai Nexo

Safety

The Fiat 500e has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Nexo doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The 500e has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Nexo doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the 500e and the Nexo have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available blind spot warning systems, front parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the 500e gets better mileage than the Nexo:

Tires and Wheels

The 500e’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Nexo’s standard 60 series tires.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the 500e’s turning circle is 5.2 feet tighter than the Nexo’s (31.5 feet vs. 36.7 feet).

Chassis

The Fiat 500e may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1050 to 1150 pounds less than the Hyundai Nexo.

The 500e is 3 feet, 4.9 inches shorter than the Nexo, making the 500e easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The 500e is 7.2 inches narrower than the Nexo, making the 500e easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

Cargo Capacity

A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the 500e easier. The 500e’s trunk lift-over height is 27.4 inches, while the Nexo’s liftover is 29.7 inches.

Ergonomics

The 500e’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Nexo’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Recommendations

The Fiat 500e outsold the Hyundai Nexo by over 228 to one during 2025.
